With the focus on intra-party democracy to fare better in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Thursday held a feedback meeting in Udaipur to identify the candidates for the upcoming poll.

Raje, along with state party president Ashok Parnami, MP Bhupendra Yadav and cabinet minister Gulab Chand Kataria met party workers and leaders from five districts--Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Banswara/Dungarpur and Pali in the meet.

According to a senior party leader, in the meeting Raje asked the party workers to suggest names of those persons who deserves and have better chances to win the upcoming election.

According to sources, all the party workers in the meet were given a form to propose the name of three probable candidates.
Referring to the results of last assembly elections, she said, 90% of the seats were decided on workers’ suggestion and the result was historic.
“On same line we need to win 25 parliamentary seats this time…so propose the names so that it could be forwarded to high command in Delhi,” she said.
CM also asked workers to apprise government about the grievances and suggestions of people to strengthen and improve the existing system.
District chiefs, office bearers, MLA, MP, ex-MLA and ex-MP, party frontal organization chiefs were also present in the meet.
The meeting with workers and leaders went on for over five hours. The meeting was organised district wise.
However, a section of leaders were also of the view that the whole exercise to select candidates through cadres’ suggestion was a mere formality to curb resentment among workers. The decision on candidates will ultimately be taken by senior leaders only, said a source.
