This is the second time within a month when such good news has come in the STR. On July 20, two cubs of tigress ST2 were seen in Kalighati forest area.

Confirming that tigress ST10 has given birth to two new cubs, deputy conservator forest (DyCF) Manoj Parashar said that both the cubs of ST10 were captured in the camera at 4.35am. They seemed about three to four months old and healthy, he said.

“Although, steps for additional security were taken following tigress ST10 was spotted in the area, but after confirmation of she giving birth to two cubs, more employees have been deputed in the area,” he added.

STR field director RS Shekhawat said that in the camera grab tigress ST10 has been seen with two cubs, which is a “big breeding success in STR”.

Meanwhile, wildlife experts are excited after hearing the news. Narendra Singh, former wildlife warden, said that such news is good for the future of STR. Number of tourists will increase after such events, he added. Anil Jain, another former wildlife expert, echoed similar sentiments.

Eight tigers have been relocated in the STR since the tiger relocation process began. One of the tigers died of poisoning by villagers. At present, there are two tigers, seven tigresses and four cubs. After four new arrivals, the total number of tiger population in the STR has gone up to 13.
