Sachin pilot, How do you see Congress position in state?

There is a great change of Congress doing well in the state. I have visited many areas of state I am surprised to see the change of mood after the assembly elections. We are on a strong wicket due to the candidates we have selected and the kind of campaigning we are doing across the state.

You seem confident, despite a clean sweep by BJP in assembly polls, Modi wave and BJP winning all the eight assembly seats in your (Ajmer) constituency. Your take?

With Rahul Gandhi’s intervention and kind of projection he is doing for the party there is shift in the mood of young people. I think it is wrong on the part of BJP to claim that all the youths are behind them. Besides with strategic campaigning--Rahul and Sonia Gandhi will be visiting many parts of state-- party has become more united.

What about the infightings in the state unit. Do not you think it will affect party’s perspectives in polls?

There is no infighting in Congress. Thoda bahut toh hota hai (little bit do happen) but not like how it is happening in BJP. Look how Modi is acting in Delhi, everybody is being kicked out, there is no ideology or consensus. It is only Amit Shah and Modi dictating the party. That shows the kind of pressure under which the BJP is working.

You are counting on the development work done by you in Ajmer. Do you think with BJP government in state and Modi wave it will matter to voters?

‘Yeh dharna ban chuki hai ki vikas par vote nahi milte (It has become a perception that people do not vote on development).. I have told myself that I will prove this notion wrong. There is  a section that thinks that only caste, wave, media perception etc matters but this is not a healthy sign for democracy.

Rumors were that ex-chief minister Ashok Gehlot was being sidelined after the Congress defeat in last assembly polls. Now he has been sent to Gujarat as in-charge, even state BJP chief Ashok Parnami accused Congress of sidelining Gehlot. What is your take on it?

Congress is united and there is no question of sidelining anyone.  Gehlot has contributed to the party immensely.
