Amid more than 50% polling reported in Rajasthan, there was one village that did not vote on Thursday.
Villagers of 1H Bada in Ganganagar parliamentary constituency, situated close to the Indo-Pak international border, boycotted the elections, as the polling booth set up by the election office for them in Madera village was 6 km away. After getting the news of polling boycott by the villagers, officials of the election office, including tehsildar Tarachand Verma, rushed to persuade the 595 registered voters of the village, but the villagers refused to budge from their stand.
Verma said that 16 voters had reached the polling station. But Gurdayal Singh, a villager, said there was no question of voting, as they had taken a pledge boycott the polling.
