Two days after the recovery of Ranchi RJ Sneha Singh's body from a hotel in Bihar's Munger district, the police on Wednesday declared her death to be suicide based on medical reports and not rape followed by murder.
However, the victim's family members and close friends doubt foul play. Post-mortem reports suggest that she had hanged herself to death, Navin Chandra Jha, the Munger SP, said.
Sneha, an employee of Bihar government-funded organisation Jeevika, was found hanging in her hotel room on Monday. She was staying in room number 101 of Hotel Center Point.
Jha added, the post-mortem report does not indicate any physical torture or rape.
The reports have been manipulated.
My daughter has been murdered, BK Singh, Sneha's father said. The way she was found hanging suggests otherwise.
No one can commit suicide in that manner, he added.
A few days prior to the incident Sneha had told her close friend that she feared her life was in danger.
She used to stay awake at night. Five days before she told me that someone continuously knocked on her doors for more than an hour at night, Kumar Saurav, Sneha's close friend, said.
