To maintain law and order in the forthcoming municipal corporation (MC) elections, the police on Friday launched a helpline 97299-90780.
Superintendent of police (SP) Shashank Anand urged people to report any violation of model code of conduct invoked in view of the June 2 elections. There was a ban on private persons carrying arms and people had been directed to deposit their weapons till the election process was over, he said in a release.
Deputy commissioner Renu S Phulia and Anand at a meeting with the contestants told them to follow rules and restrain from defacing private and public properties.
The candidates were told that they were entitled to use only two vehicles for canvassing.
