Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday apologised to Delhi voters for resigning from government, saying he will stay for the full term of five years if elected to power in the Capital again.

“Give us 40+ seats this time. I promise whatever happens, we will stay for five years. Resigning was a mistake. Forgive us,” Kejriwal said at a rally organised by the National Capital E-Rickshaw Association on Sunday evening near Adarsh Nagar metro station in north Delhi. The former Delhi CM urged voters to give AAP a simple majority so that it could form a stable government in Delhi.

Kejriwal and AAP resigned from power in February this year after a 49-day rule in Delhi, with the party receiving severe criticism for the move.

The AAP chief also slammed Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari’s announcement of regularisation of e-rickshaws in the Capital and termed the move a “specimen of dirty politics”.

Taking a dig at the saffron party over frequent power cuts and water crisis this summer, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP had "nexus" with discoms and so it was not solving the issue.

"It seems BJP, just like the previous Congress government, has a nexus with power discoms, that is the reason it is unable to solve the power issue.

Exuding confidence about a win in the event of re-elections, he said, "They (BJP) keep saying there is a BJP wave in the city and country. If it is so, why are they not pushing for assembly elections."

"I challenge them to fight the elections again. We are sure we will come to power with a majority this time," he added.
