A special investigation team (SIT) of the Kerala Police on Saturday seized two machine guns from Italian ship Enrica Lexie that were allegedly used to kill two Indian fishermen last week.

“We have seized all arms found onboard. But only 25% of the search is complete,” Kochi police commissioner MR Ajit Kumar, who heads the SIT, said.

Among the forensic/ballistic experts who joined the search was a 10-member team from Italy that included two ballistic experts and a diplomatic delegation from its Mumbai consulate.

The arms will be brought to a forensic lab here soon. The SIT hopes to complete its probe within two weeks.

Two Italian marines have been arrested for the February 15 shooting off the Kerala coast.
