Three-time Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national executive member and wife of suspended BJP MP Kirti Azad, Poonam Azad, is likely to quit and join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

According to AAP officials, the decision is expected to be announced in a couple of days.

“She has communicated her decision to join the party. The formalities will be completed in the coming two days,” said a senior leader.

Her decision is also driven by the suspension of Kirti Azad who had launched a scathing attack on finance minister Arun Jaitley over alleged corruption in DDCA during the latter’s tenure as its head and continued with his attack despite party chief Amit Shah’s intervention. Kirti Azad was later suspended.

“In the fight between truth and lies, many people from BJP will side with the truth and many will resign. We welcome anyone with a clean image and a will to work for people,” said AAP leader Deepak Bajpayee.
