Three days after a private tutor Pooja Singh was caught on CCTV torturing a three-and-half-year-old child in Lake Town, the police arrested the accused from a hideout in south Kolkata on Friday afternoon.

Lake Town police had sent two teams — one to Bihar and the other to Odisha — where they suspected Pooja to be hiding after the incident.

Sources said that the police had traced her mobile phone to a location in Bihar.

They suspect that she had handed over her mobile phone to some person who had taken it to Bihar to misguide the cops.

She would be produced in the court on Saturday.

Her husband Rohit Singh, who had threatened the victim’s parents not to lodge a complaint with the police after the video surfaced, is still on the run.

Singh was caught on CCTV punching and thrashing a child she tutored.

Later her husband approached the victim’s family and threatened them with dire consequences if they dared to lodge a complaint with the police.

But before the family could lodge a complaint and the police could arrest the culprit Singh and her husband managed to flee.

The police also lost some valuable time in tracing the address as she had given a fake address to her employers.

Vajpayee was often commended for his ability to stump his critics, especially in Parliament, with a passionate speech. Perhaps, one of his most memorable Parliament address was from 1996 during the confidence vote of his 13-day-old BJP government.
