Rubbishing Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee's claim that CPI-M was trying to incite communal violence ahead of the civic polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee tonight assured that communal harmony would be maintained in the state at any cost. "Who dares to
incite violence? We will not allow any communal violence in Kolkata," Bhattacharjee said at an election rally in the minority-dominated Rajabazar area in support of Left Front candidates.

Without naming Banerjee, the chief minister ridiculed her for her claims saying "Those who are talking about communal violence are the ones who had send flower bouquet to (Gujarat chief minister) Narendra Modi."

Calling upon people to cast votes in favour of a party which could assure peace and harmony, Bhattacharjee said only the Left Front could protect rights of the people.

Bhattacharjee also assured the minorities of several benefits to improve their social and economic status.

He also said that water tax in the metropolis would be waived for the lower and middle class people.

Referring to slums in the metropolis, Bhattacharjee said, "Slums would never be abolished since nearly 17 lakh of it dwellers are part of the city. Kolkata without these people is unthinkable."
