From Singur, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee is taking her battle against the Tata Motors small-car plant to the Capital even as she has decided to stay away from Tuesday’s all-party meeting called on discuss the issue.

She will meet United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Tuesday evening and brief her on her demands. She will also seek appointments with the President and Prime Minister.

While Banerjee will stay away from the meeting called by the state government, the Congress will be there. “The Congress will participate in the all-party meet to demand adequate compensation for farmers,” state Congress committee chief Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said.
