“I have a wife who is more beautiful than that girl. All I can say is that I am innocent,” said an agitated-looking captain of I-League Champions, Okolie Odafa. This is what Odafa blurted out before he got into the hotel elevator. It was a different Odafa from the time he entered
the hotel in Kolkata on Wednesday.

So, whose fault was it? This could well have been the refrain of mediapersons there.

“Only in India. You will find it only in India,” Odafa said with a sarcastic smile. “Had it been my country, I would have known how to deal with these things.”

A few minutes later, Odafa again appeared, this time ready to go for lunch.

Odafa said the airline authorities should provide clinching evidence to prove his guilt. “Planes have cameras, don’t they? So they must have recorded the incident. Let them come up with the video of the incident to prove that I’m guilty,” he said.

“I didn’t know what the laws were so I decided to keep quiet...I’m facing this just because I’m a footballer.

This probably wouldn’t happen to a cricketer,” the highest scorer of the previous edition of the I-League said before hailing a cab.
