Trinamool link in West Bengal campus gangrape

Campus atrocities in West Bengal reached another low when a member of the students’ wing of the ruling Trinamool Congress here was accused of gangraping a first-year student of a polytechnic in the college union room after forcing her to consume alcohol on October 9.


The principal accused, Sambhu Mondal, a third-year student of the polytechnic is the class representative of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad. Mondal and his accomplices fled after an FIR was registered on Thursday.

“Local Trinamool Congress people are asking me to negotiate and not to complain to the administration. They are all trying to cover it up,” the victim’s father, Sadhan Dutta, told the media on Friday.

Minor raped

Dehri On Sone (Bihar): Five men were arrested while they were raping a minor girl at knife-point in Rohtas district of south-western Bihar on Thursday.

The girl had been kidnapped from the Akorhi Gola market of Mathurapur and taken to a house. Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided the house, rescued the girl and arrested the rapists. The men have been remanded in judicial custody.
