A purported blog of the terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has claimed that a ‘Rohingya mujahideen’ trained by it was behind the Bodh Gaya serial blasts of July 7. It is suspected that the blog was created in Pakistan.
The National Intelligence Agency (NIA) is probing the blog with the help of intelligence agencies to check the internet address used to create it and for uploading materials.
The blog (URL- Islamfigters.blogspot.com), with a subtitle ‘Mujahideen Lashkar-e-Taiba’ is littered with jehadi propaganda with videos and text discussing global hotspots of terror and even an interview of Hafiz Mohammad Saeed given to a Pakistani news channel.
But a particular video on the blog, titled ‘Lashkar in Burma’ has made the counter-terror officials sit up and take notice.
The 8.31 minutes long video starts with pictures of alleged atrocities on Rohingya muslims with text running simultaneously to describe them.
Then it makes a startling claim that a Lashkar team managed to reach Myanmar to help the Rohingya muslims at the fag end of 2012 and prepared a local Mujahideen to carry out a strike in Bodh Gaya.
The latter part of the video consists of the CCTV footage of the Bodh Gaya blasts along with visuals from Indian news channels showing the blast locations and even the visiting NIA officials for a probe there. The video warns of more such strikes.
”These claims cannot be taken lightly as the Indian intelligence agencies have known for a very long time about LeT’s activities in Myanmar and bordering areas of Bangladesh.
Besides, many witnesses have said that one of the bomb planters had north-eastern features. He came wearing the robes of a Buddhist monk. It is quite possible that LeT operatives may have carried out blasts with the help of local cadres of the Indian Mujahideen (IM).
But it is too early to say anything with finality in the absence of clear evidence,” said a counter-terror official requesting anonymity.
There are other videos on the blog which speak in glowing poetry about LeT operatives with footage of 26/11 attack running alongside.
Another video claims that the Pakistan army and LeT’s parent organization, Jamaat-ud-Dawa, helps ‘distressed’ Muslim brothers all around the world.
Interestingly, at the time of accessing the website, the visitors are diverted to a new address ‘Islamfighters.blogspot.in’.
It is the second instance of a Pakistan link emerging with regard to the Bodh Gaya blasts. Immediately after the blasts, a twitter account, again created in the Pakistani capital Islamabad, had claimed responsibility for the action at the Buddhist shrine.
