LeT militant involved in sarpanch killing held

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba militant allegedly involved in the killing of a sarpanch in North Kashmir's Pattan town.

A police spokesman said a locally trained LeT Muzaffar Ahmad Lone was nabbed after they received information about his presence in Palhalan village. "Muzaffar is involved in a murder case of a sarpanch of Palhalan village. He is a close associate of Hilal Molvi of LeT militant in Kongamdara Magam area," the police spokesman said.

"One pistol, one pistol magazine and three pistol rounds were recovered from his possession," he said.

Meanwhile, in another town of north Kashmir, police and 32 RR in a joint search operation recovered some arms and ammunition.

The police spokesman said they along with army launched a search operation in Sopore after a tip-off.  "During search operation, an AK-56 rifle, two AK 56 magazines, 120 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, one 9 mm pistol, one 9mm pistol magazines, one hand grenade and five hand-held radio sets were recovered," the spokesman added.

Police to conduct polygraphic test on DIG Paraskar
