Uttar Pradesh is likely to be the biggest beneficiary of the recently launched national integrated bus travel portal -www.BusIndia.com -- by the centre.

Officials of the UP State Road Transport Corporation say that the site, based on the pattern of IRCTC, would come as a boost for tourism in the state.

This portal could be a game changer for tourism in UP as any tourist in the world could book a seat in the UPSRTC’s super luxury buses just by the click of a mouse, they opined.

Vineet Seth, general manager MIS, UPSRTC, said: “With the largest fleet of buses in the country (around 10,000), UPSRTC has a unique opportunity to gain from this facility available to the travellers.”

Developed by Radiant Info in partnership with the Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT), BusIndia.com helps passengers plan their bus travel across Indian cities with ease.

More than 10 lakh foreign tourists come to UP every season to visit destinations like Agra, Varanasi, Buddhist Circuit, Lucknow and Jhansi, but this number could double if they get integrated transport facilities online.

Most of the passengers in Agrara enter either from Delhi or from Rajasthan and they have to buy return tickets standing in long queues. But now they can plan their travel better because the site will provide every thing -- right from stopovers, changing routes, multi-trips, round-trips to hotel bookings, said Vineet Seth.

Over 1 lakh tickets are booked through IRCTC every day for trains.

And bus users are at least six times more than the number of rail passengers, so there’s a lot of potential, he added. add Venu Myneni, chairman, Radiant Info, said:

“Bus services in India are now connecting remote locations within UP. This will be useful to people in India and abroad to easily plan their travel from Noida to Jhansi. Now, UP will be an integral part of the itinerary of foreigners visiting India.”

CIRT director Ananda Rao said, “The new portal provides a unique and user-friendly experience of booking bus tickets of various transport corporations and operators’ services across the county under a single window.”
