Rajnath to file nomination from Lucknow on April 5, two days earlier than scheduled

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh will file his nomination papers from Lucknow Lok Sabha constituency on April 5, two days earlier than originally scheduled.

Senior BJP leader Narendra Singh Rana said Singh would file his nomination at 10.30am.

On Sunday, the BJP president's son Pankaj, who is the party general secretary for Uttar Pradesh, visited Lalkuan locality in Lucknow to canvass for his father.

Singh's youngest son Neeraj also held mass contact programmes at Geeta Palli in Alambagh, which is part of the Lucknow constituency, on Sunday. He met people at Chitwapur locality and Gomti Nagar too.

Outgoing Lucknow MP Lalji Tandon was among the senior leaders who participated in various campaign programmes for the BJP chief in the city on Sunday.

City mayor Dinesh Sharma held a meeting at his residence to chalk out campaign strategies for Singh. The meeting was attended by former MLA Vidya Sagar, senior leaders Jai Prakash Chaturvedi and Amit Puri, among other party leaders.
