A Congress leader was among two persons charged with abetment of suicide on Monday after a 35-year-old woman killed herself by consuming poison, allegedly after being forced out of her house over non-payment of a loan in Dewas township.

Dewas is 35 km from Indore.

Police slapped Section 306 of IPC against local Congress leader Chandrapal Singh Solanki alias Chhotu and Santosh Jaiswal over the death of Rekha Goswami, a resident of Shanti Nagar.

Police said that the duo had occupied Goswami’s house after she allegedly failed to return a sum of Rs. 20,000 she had taken as loan from the Congress leader.

She committed suicide on August 8, the same day the duo forced her out of her house.

Rekha consumed poison at Santosh Jaiswal’s residence at Moti Bangla.

After consuming poison, she called her brother and informed him about the duo’s threats.
