Maharashtra: 20-year-old woman gangraped twice in a week in Palghar

A 20-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped twice in a week here by four people, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place near a leprosy centre in Palghar on August 5 and again on August 11, the police complaint lodged by the victim, said.

The Waliv Police from Vasai here last night registered an offence under sections 376(d) 363, 341 and 328 of the IPC against the four absconding accused.

According to police, the woman was taken by the four accused to an isolated place near the Navjian Naka into the compound of a leprosy centre and raped her.

The accused placed a handkerchief on her mouth and rendered her unconscious after which they abused her.

Two of the accused have been identified by the victim as Abdul and Arbaz. No arrests have been made so far and further probe is underway.
