Man convicted in cheque bounce case

Special judicial magistrate, Raghuvir Singh, at Mandi on Wednesday has convicted Hari Singh, a resident of village Tikkari (Bhambala) under Sarkaghat segment area under section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act and sentenced him to simple imprisonment of one year.

The court also imposed fine of Rs.1.28 lakhs and ordered to pay the amount of fine to the complainant Kirat Ram, a resident of village Chanala under Drang assembly constituency.

According to Kirat Ram statement; Hari Singh was known to him and he gave him loan of Rs.1.28 lakhs and Hari gave him post dated cheque in return in 2007 but the cheque got bounced due to lack of amount in Hari’s account later on.

Kirat said that Hari did not reply to his notice of recovery of amount and later he filed his complaint in the court.
