A 40-year-old hearing and speech impaired married man stabbed his father to death at his residence here on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred following a petty quarrel in the posh cantonment area.

Kirtikumar, alias Chingu Chandulal Shah, was arrested by police for killing his father with sharp weapons.

The police, however, were finding it difficult to take down statement from the accused since he is hearing and speech impaired.

A complaint has been lodged against Kirtikumar by his sister Rashmi.

According to senior PI Vitthal Rane, Kirtikumar is married and has a daughter.

His father Chandulal opted for voluntary retirement from a nationalised bank. Chandulal managed to get a job at a private firm for his son on human grounds in 2004.

Kirtikumar was not attending his work regularly, which was the main cause of quarrel between the father and son. Chandulal used to convince his son that he was married and needed to work regularly.

However, Kirtikumar would not listen to him, police said.

On Tuesday morning, Chandulal again advised him to go to work while he was leaving his Krishna Kunj Apartments residence at Solapur Bazar at around 9 am. An irked Krishnakumar repeatedly stabbed his father in the stomach.

Rane said that Kirtikumar will be produced before the court after seeking experts’ assistance to take down statement from the accused in view of the nature of the case.

Kirtikumar, so far, has not said anything to the police.
