A 24-year-old man was arrested on Sunday on charges of killing his wife, suspecting her of infidelity, on September 26, 2012.

Identified as Navneet Kumar, a resident of Chiri village of the district, the suspect had married one Khushboo of Jagatpuri in New Delhi on August 10, 2011, against the wishes of their parents. Soon after tying the knot, the couple started squabbling over trifles and Navneet began to doubt her loyalty.

A police official said: “Navneet suspected Khushboo of being involved with one of his friends and took her to Titoli village on September 26 last year. He said he had hit Khushboo on the head that led to her death. Thereafter, he threw her body in a nearby canal.”

After seeing the body floating in the canal, passersby informed the police and a case of murder was registered against unidentified persons in 2012.

Notably, Khushboo's parents had got an abduction case registered against Navneet on September 25, 2012, after she went missing from Delhi.

Superintendent of police Vivek Sharma said the police were investigating the case and were trying to acquire information about Navneet's friend with whom Khushboo had an alleged affair.
