A 21-year-old woman was sedated and gang raped, allegedly by a friend and two others, in Rohtak’s Meham town.

On Thursday, police arrested one of the three accused. The victim had got married a couple of months ago and was living with her husband in Balhemba village near Meham.

In her complaint to the police, she said on Tuesday, she had a quarrel with her husband and decided to go to her parents’ home in neighbouring Hisar.

So she called up a friend, Sumit Kumar, and requested him to accompany her. Sumit picked her up in the evening, but instead of taking her parents’ home, he took her to his own under-construction house in Meham town. Once there, he invited two of his friends. Sedating the woman, they allegedly sexually assaulted her.

On Wednesday, the woman reached Hisar and the day after, a complaint was filed with the police. Kuldeep Beniwal, station house officer, Meham, said, “One of the accused, Dharmender, has been arrested. A search is on for the other two.”
