Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday promised three acres of land to each landless person and employment for the unemployed, if her party was elected to power in Madhya Pradesh.
“If my party comes to power in Madhya Pradesh, we will give three-acre land to every landless person and generate employment for the unemployed in the state,” Mayawati told a BSP rally in the Maoist-afflicted Balaghat district.
The BSP supremo also said her party would contest assembly polls on all 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh on its own and not form alliances with anyone.
Urging people to vote for BSP candidates, Mayawati said no development of the ‘bahujan samaj’ (depressed classes) had taken place while the Congress and the BJP had been in power during the past 66 years.
“There was no change in the condition of the bahujan samaj, the poor and the minorities. Unemployment is visible everywhere,” she said.
Mayawati said the central and the state governments had done nothing for landless tribals in the country, while her government in Uttar Pradesh had given Dalit landless people three acres of land free of cost.
The BSP leader said tribals had got associated with Maoists because of landlessness.
She added that as per the Sachar Committee report, the economic condition of Muslims was bad and the Centre had failed to do anything about it.
