The Himachal Pradesh Teachers Kranti Manch has urged the state government to regularise the services of mid-day meal workers working in various educational institutions of the state on the pattern of Tamil Nadu.
Vijay Heer, state president of the sangh, said on Saturday that while mid-day meal workers in the state were fighting for their rights in the HP high court, it was a matter of pride that their counterparts in Tamil Nadu had been regularised and their pay scales revised.
Heer said it was a serious issue that while mid-day meal workers in the state were given only Rs. 1,000 per month, their counterparts in Tamil Nadu were getting a monthly pay of Rs. 5,000.
He expressed optimism that keeping in view of the decisions of various courts in India, the HP government would also think over to enhance the emoluments of the mid-day meal workers and provide them justice.
