Suspected militants fired upon a CRPF vehicle in uptown area of Srinagar on Tuesday evening, prompting the forces to retaliate, in which an ultra was injured.

Officials said CRPF personnel belonging to C-29 battalion were returning from the secretariat when their vehicle was fired upon by gunmen who were reportedly on bikes in Sanat Nagar area of Srinagar.

“No jawan was injured in the attack. However, in retaliatory fire, one terrorist was injured,” CRPF spokesman, Rajesh Yadav said, adding that the forces have launched a search for the ultras who escaped after the attack.
