As a Delhi court convicted all four accused in the infamous Delhi gangrape case on Tuesday, in another shocking case, a minor college student of local Government Postgraduate Sanskrit College was allegedly abducted and raped by a youth at Winsom Hill hotel in Brewery area here on Tuesday night.
The medical examination of the victim has confirmed the crime. The accused absconded after committing the crime.
The police, which had initially registered the case on the charge of abducting a woman to compel her for marriage, later included the charge of rape on the victim's statement.
Solan superintendent of police Ramesh Chhajta said in the first information report (FIR) lodged with the Sadar police, the victim's father, a resident of Dalash village of Kullu district, stated that his daughter, 17, used to stay in a rented accommodation at Vrindavan Colony on Damrog Road of the town.
The complainant said the incident came to light after house owner Narender Thakur intimated him that his daughter, who had gone to the college in the morning, did not return to her rented accommodation on Tuesday evening.
Soon after this, the complainant received another telephonic call from an unidentified person intimating him that his daughter was with him and he intended to marry her, following which he immediately rushed to Solan from his native village and lodged a complaint.
Later, the victim, who somehow managed to free herself from the accused, reached the police station and narrated her tale of woe.
The victim alleged that Harish, a resident of Deothi village of Rampur Bushahar area of Shimla district, forcibly took her to the Winsom Hill hotel and committed the crime.
Chhajta said since the accused was at large, a special investigating team had been constituted to nab the culprit.
He said the police had gathered vital clues concerning the possible hideouts of the accused adding that he would be arrested soon.
