After sharing a public platform in Bhopal last month, BJP patriarch L K Advani and the party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi were seen together at a function in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, TV reports said.
"Modi is hosting LK Advani in Gujarat today (Wednesday) and has pulled out all stops to make it a grand visit for his mentor, now estranged," the NDTV reported.
According to the TV channel, the two BJP leaders attended a closed-door meeting of the Somnath Temple Trust in Ahmedabad, after which they shared the stage at a series of inaugurations and functions where Advani will be the guest of honour.
The two are meeting in Gujarat after the BJP named Modi its candidate for Prime Minister in 2014, ignoring Advani's vehement objections.
On Wendesday, Advani and Modi jointly inaugurated the gardens built by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) along the Sabarmati river under the Riverfront Development Project.
Earlier, the AMC invitation cards mentioned that Advani would dedicate the gardens to the people in Modi’s presence.
The event assumes significance, as Advani, the MP from Gandhinagar constituency, would be seen at a major public function in Gujarat after 2011.
Advani and Modi had appeared on a public platform in Bhopal on September 25, along with a pantheon of BJP for the first time after the declaration of party's prime ministerial candidate, but even there the ties between the two leaders were far from being warm.
