Wishing the nation on its 70th Independence Day celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said his government’s focus was on creating an identity for India as he gave the customary speech from the ramparts of Red Fort.

This is Modi’s third I-Day as Prime Minister of India, and he proceeded to list out some of the developments the NDA had brought in since it came power in 2014, including the passage of the Constitutional Amendment GST bill in the Rajya Sabha.

— Due to the drought situation in the past two years, the government has faced challenges in terms of price rise

— Financial independence of women and her participation is important to fight poverty

— Only financial growth is not important, social unity is also important. The 125 crore people of India are part of one family

— Yes there are problems, but we have to rise above and fight such anti-social elements. Only then we’ll be able to progress in real sense
