Jashodaben Modi, separated wife of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been given a 24/7 police protection by the Gujarat police. A retired school teacher, Jashodaben lives in a tiny village Brahmanwada in Mehsana district, north Gujarat.

“We carried out assessment of her security requirement and provided four unarmed policemen and one armed constable with a vehicle at her place in the village. The policemen will remain deployed round the clock in shift,” a senior official of the state home department said, adding Mehsana district police have provided the policemen for deployment.

“As wife of the Prime Minister, she is entitled for the security cover of the SPG but she does not require heavy security cover as the threat perception is nil,” the official added.

With Gujarat police security cover, she becomes the first member of Modi’s family to get the security, as no other member including her mother Hiraba, who lives with her youngest son Pankaj Modi in Gandhinagar, has got the police protection.
