Tharoor meets PM to clarify allegations over IPL Spat

Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor offered to quit as he met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence Sunday morning. Tharoor briefed Manmohan on the Kochi IPL controversy and reportedly offered to quit saying, if he has embarrassed government then he is ready to quit. Tharoor reached Singh's official residence to put across his point of view before a final call with regard to his future in the federal council of ministers. The meeting reportedly lasted around 50 minutes.

Senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party Lal Krishan Advani, on Saturday said Junior Foreign Minister Shashi Tharoor should be sacked if he did not step down in the wake of the raging Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise controversy. The controversy rages between IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi and Tharoor over a new franchise of the hugely popular cricket league tourney.

Reacting to the Modi-Tharoor IPL spat, Jyotiraditya Scindia, central junior trade minister and President of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, hoped that the truth would soon come out. Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and President of Bihar Cricket Association, Lalu Prasad Yadav also launched a scathing attack on Tharoor. Meanwhile, the controversial Kochi IPL bid could cost Shahsi Tharoor. The fate of the Minister of State for External Affairs still remains uncertain as not many Congress MPs are coming out in his support.

BJP demands dismissal of Tharoor over IPL row

The BJP demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should sack Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor from the Union Ministry in the wake of controversy over Indian Premier League (IPL) Kochi team ownership.

Kochi IPL team issue small but it will be dealt with: Modi

Addressing the media after the announcement of the first ever IPL Awards function in Mumbai on Wednesday Commissioner of Indian Premier League Cricket tourney Lalit Modi refused to comment in detail on the new Kochi IPL team. Modi contended the issue concerning Kochi IPL team is small to discuss. Reportedly, India's junior Foreign Minister Shashi Tharoor had facilitated the formation of the Kochi IPL team.
