A five-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a 35-year-old man in Ghansour town, is being shifted to Nagpur in neighbouring Maharashtra in an air ambulance as her condition remains serious.
According to police, the accused, identified as Firoz Khan (35) who works in a private power plant, raped the girl on April 17 after luring her with a chocolate.
After the alleged crime, he dumped the girl at a farm in the town. Her parents found her lying in an unconscious state there the next morning, following which she was rushed to the Government Medical College, Jabalpur.
"Her condition is serious as she is yet to regain consciousness," police said.
Enraged over the incident as the police unable to arrest the accused so far, people in Ghansour town observed a bandh on Saturday and submitted a memorandum to the sub divisional magistrate (SDM) demanding strict action against the accused in this case.
Ghansour Police Station in-charge RD Barti said that a case under section 363, 366 and 376 of the IPC was registered against the accused person and police teams have been sent to Delhi and Bihar in search of the accused.
Seoni district public relation officer (PRO) Ghanshyam Sirsam said that the private power plant company is bearing the entire expenses of her treatment and its management also announced to give a suitable job to the victim's father.
