A passenger suffered several injuries after he was allegedly thrown out of a running train by a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) at Maihar railway station on Wednesday night.

The victim Anjani Yadav lodged a complaint with government railway police (GRP) at Katni.

He claimed that the TTE  -- identified as Bhagwan Singh Thakur -- pushed him out of the train after an argument over boarding a sleeper class compartment with general class tickets.

Yadav, a resident of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, was travelling to Maihar with his family-members to offer prayers at the Goddess Sharda temple.

He had boarded the Mahanagari Express at Varanasi railway station.

Yadav claimed that TTE asked him to pay Rs. 2,200 as fine. But, when he sought a receipt, the TTE refused to issue the same which led to an argument between them.

"When the train arrived at Maihar railway station and my family-members were getting down from the train, the TTE came to me and snatched Rs. 10,500 cash from me. Meanwhile, the train started moving and he threw me out of the train," Anjani told media persons. He sustained injuries in his chest, face and hands.

He later approached the GRP personnel and lodged a complaint.

TTE Bhagwan Singh, posted at Jabalpur rail division, also lodged a complaint with GRP Jabalpur, accusing Yadav and others of beating him up and looting cash from him.

Superintendent of Rail Police (Jabalpur zone) AK Pandey said both Thakur and Yadav have lodged complaints against each other.

This is the third such incident this year.

Last month, a Delhi-based cloth merchant was killed after a woman coach conductor allegedly pushed him out of the Lucknow-Delhi Shatabdi Express in Aligarh.

Earlier in May, a woman was killed in Jalgaon in Maharashtra after she was allegedly pushed out of a moving train by an inebriated train TTE.
