Fire breaks out in Mumbai CST building, no injuries

Fire which broke at 5:40pm on the 5th floor of Central Railway building adjacent to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) is reportedly under control. No injuries have been reported so far though some onlookers reported one person being trapped in the building.


The fire started on 5th floor and spread to 6th floor of the administrative building. Fire brigade officials said 8 fire engines have been pressed into service to extinguish fire.

As a precaution, the Central Railway has shut adjacent platform number 1 because of which harbor line services are affected.

CR PRO said suburban services of Central Railway were not affected but the same of harbor line were delayed.

Massive traffic snarls were reported on DN Road. Traffic cops swung into action and issued diversions to unclog the stretch. JJ flyover was shut down for traffic as was the south-bound stretch of Pydhonie. Major traffic diversions were announced.
