When her friend invited her for a night out, the 19-year-old thought they were going to discuss her career options. But late on Wednesday night, her friend, identified as Nasim Bano Khan, left her alone with a man who allegedly raped her.
The Trombay police have arrested the accused, a 20-year-old auto driver, along with Khan and two other men from Chembur for allegedly helping him.
According to the police, Khan persuaded the 19-year-old, who recently completed a beautician’s course, to meet the accused, Amir Khan, by promising her that he would find her a job in a beauty parlour. Nasim allegedly took her to Kurla on Wednesday morning where they met her (Nasim’s) friend Faruq Shaikh, 29.
Police say that Faruq introduced the woman to his friend Amir.
Subsequently, the four then went to Chembur where they roamed in an auto, which was purportedly lent to them by Deepak Patil, 34, who is a friend of the accused.
Late into the night, Nasim said her phone was unable to receive a signal and left. Subsequently, Faruq left as well.
According to the complaint, Amir convinced the woman that it was unsafe for her to go back to her place as it was getting late; the woman agreed to stay over at his home in Cheeta Camp, Chembur.
“Around 3am on Thursday, when the complainant was sleeping, Amir forced himself on her and raped her. He gagged her mouth. She somehow managed to escape. Later, her family approached the police and lodged a complaint,” said Vijay Kadam, senior inspector.
