The Mumbai crime branch has sent a letter to deputy inspector general Sunil Paraskar in a bid to seek his permission to conduct a polygraphic and lie detector tests on him. While the police are awaiting a response from Paraskar, the officials said that they would soon approach the court to seek its permission.

"We would write to the court to take a permission to conduct the chemical analysis tests on the senior police officer," said Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria.

In order to conduct the tests, the permission of the accused is mandatory and hence the officials are awaiting a response from Paraskar. "We have already written a letter to Paraskar to seek his go ahead for conducting the tests on him and are awaiting his response," said a senior crime branch officer, requesting anonymity.

A 26-year-old model lodged a complaint against Paraskar claiming that he had sexually assaulted her and molested at two places in Madh Island in Malad and a flat in Navi Mumbai.

The investigators also stated that they would summon all those persons whose statements would be necessary in the investigation. Name of another model had cropped up during the investigation, which is being carried out by the crime against women (CAW) cell of the crime branch.

The CAW had summoned Paraskar for second round of recording statement at the crime branch office on Wednesday. The statement is being recorded by CAW's assistant commissioner of police Kala Gavit, who is also the investigating officer of the case. The statement is being recorded in the presence of a senior crime branch officer.

The police are also gathering the series of SMSes and the e-mails exchanged between both the parties. They have already sent two cell phones of the complainant for forensic analysis.

During the course of questioning, Paraskar has accepted that he and the complainant have been friends and had met on several occasions. However, he denied the allegations leveled against him.

A case under sections 376 (2) (being a police officer commits rape), 376 (C) (a public servant abuses such position or fiduciary relationship to induce or seduce any woman either in his custody or under his charge or present in the premises to have sexual intercourse with him) and 354 (D) (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code is registered against Paraskar.
