A Mumbai police team on Tuesday found remains of six human skeletons at the farmhouse of missing Bollywood starlet Laila Khan at Igatpuri near Nashik. DNA tests would be conducted to find out whose remains these are, police officials said.

Laila Khan, who acted in the 2008 Rajesh Khanna-starrer ‘Wafa,’ her mother, two sisters, a brother and a cousin, have been missing since February 2011.

Her mother Celina’s boyfriend, Parvez Tak, a forest contractor, has claimed he has killed all six of them. Some knives and rods, which crime branch sources said could be the murder weapons, and a mobile phone have also been recovered from the farmhouse, located 140 km from Mumbai.

Joint commissioner of police Himanshu Roy, who confirmed the recovery of the human remains, said they are “believed to be those of the victims.” He said the crime branch team which has camped in Igatpuri will continue its search “to gather more evidence” in the case. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/Popup/2012/7/11_07_12-metro11.jpg

Deputy commissioner of police (crime) Ambadas Pote, who is leading the search team, said the remains were found near a swing in the courtyard of the family’s farmhouse. It was Tak who led them to the spot, he said.

Tak has been booked for kidnapping in a complaint registered at the Oshiwara police station by Laila’s father Nadir Patel on July 4, 2012. He would now be charged with murder, Roy said.

Tak was arrested by the Jammu & Kashmir police last month after the vehicle in which Laila Khan and her family members had travelled from Igatpuri to the Valley in Feb 2011 was found near Kishtwar.

The crime branch, which got his custody on Saturday, took him to Igatpuri on Monday in view of his confession to J&K police that he had killed the actress and members of her family at the farmhouse.

The crime branch is also questioning Laila’s stepfather Asif Sheikh, suspected to be in league with Tak, and two watchmen, Jolly Gilder and Memboob, who drove the family vehicles from Igatpuri to J&K.

Tak had started living with the Khans at their Oshiwara flat in January 2011. He is said to have come to Mumbai from his hometown Kishtwar in connection with some political work. He did odd jobs at the Khan residence and later reportedly developed a relationship with Laila’s mother Celina.
