Singer-turned-actor Sonu Nigam has reportedly been threatened by the underworld.

According to a CNN IBN report, the singer has approached the police, alleging that he has got threat calls from underworld don Chhota Shakeel.

The news channel also quoted unnamed officials as saying that the singer told the police that Chhota Shakeel made several threat calls and asked him to change the event management company that will handle his 2014 world tour.

Hindustan Times, however, couldn't independently confirm this. Repeated attempts to contact Nigam went in vain as the singer is said to be travelling overseas.

The crime branch of Mumbai Police, however, has denied any knowledge of the incident.
