Muzaffarnagar: 21-year-old shot dead in suspected honour killing

Tension prevailed in Vahalana village here after a 21-year-old youth was allegedly shot dead by family members of the girl he was in a relationship with.

In a suspected case of honour killing, the youth, Nazim was killed on Tuesday night when he entered the house of one Arvind and his brother Praveen when they were asleep, police said on Wednesday.

SSP Deepak Kumar said prima facie, a love affair was the reason behind Nazim’s murder. Heavy police force was deployed in the village as the matter was related to different communities.

According to police sources, the inmates of the house woke up on hearing some noise and nabbed the entrant. After a scuffle, one of the persons in the house opened fire at the youth who died on the spot. Later, police was informed about the matter and soon a team of cops reached the spot and took the body outside the house.

The deceased was identified as Nazim, son of Nadeem of village Vahalana.

As the matter was concerned with two different communities, SSP Deepak Kumar deployed heavy police force in the village. Police also took Praveen and his nephew Pradeep into custody.

On the other hand Nadeem, father of the deceased, filed a named FIR against four persons – Praveen, Pradeep, Deepak and Arvind for allegedly killing his son who had gone to their house for some work. The SSP said the situation in Vahalana was under control but police force had been deployed in the village.
