Nalagarh admn goes extra mile to save the girl child

Aimed at spreading the message of “Save the girl child”, the Nalagarh administration for the first time would organise a marathon race on September 22.

Nalagarh sub-divisional magistrate Yunus said the basic objective of organising the race was to motivate people and to spread awareness to save the girl child and environment.

He said the run would start from the mini-secretariat at 11am. It would cover 5 km and would culminate at New Nalagarh Park, where all participants would plant saplings in the name of 11 newly born girls. The event has been tagged with Kanya-Chhaya yojana.

Fixed deposit receipts (FDRs) of `1,100 to each girl child would also be distributed. Yunus urged the people of the city especially the youth from the age group of 15 to 40 to come forward for participating in the marathon race and for this registration can be made free of cost in the office of assistant public relations officer, Nalagarh. Ambuja cement foundation will sponsor the event.
