Need for knowledge-based military society underlined

Underlining the need of a knowledge-based military society on occasion of the 23rd Raising Day, Army Training Command (ARTRAC), General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Sanjeev Madhok (Vishisht Seva Medal) said: “Our endeavour is to build a knowledge-based military society, where knowledge enhancement is as much an individual need as it is an institutional need.”

“We need to design and develop relevant formal and informal learning content that captures the imagination of the new generation of war fighters and builds upon their experiences,” he said further.

An official spokesperson said to commemorate the occasion, the ARTRAC, apart from holding professional interactions, would be organising a musical evening by Indian Symphony Orchestra with a mix of Indian and Western instrumental and martial music On October 1 at the historic Ridge. Besides that, an one-act play was being staged at Gaiety Theatre by officers and their families, he added.

The celebrations that have spread over a week include Barakhana and Sainik Sammelan for troops and a banquet lunch for veterans and other distinguished guests. Three ex-army commanders of ARTRAC will be gracing the occasion.
