The Goa police will return from Mumbai by Friday with a fresh complaint made by the former Tehelka journalist who has accused the magazine’s co-founder Tarun Tejpal of sexually assaulting her.

The new complaint states that an email doing the rounds has sought to reveal her identity, made derogatory remarks about her and sought to defame her. The email, sent from the address of one ‘Karan Singh’, contains a photo of the journalist (with her eyes blacked out) and Tejpal with a caption saying she is getting “cosy” with the “rapist”.

The investigation into this will only commence once the complaint reaches Goa. Meanwhile, a first information report (FIR) was lodged against Tejpal on Tuesday for allegedly intimidating the investigating officer, Sunita Sawant.

J-K law does not allow defections

While defections are common in other states especially when there is no clear majority for any party, in Jammu and Kashmir, where election has thrown up a hung assembly, it is not an option for parties to increase its strength.
