The Noida authority chief executive officer (CEO) Rama Raman on Friday asked the irrigation department to speed up the repair work on the Kalindi Kunj carriageway (Noida-Delhi side) and complete it by February 15 — a week ahead of the deadline. Earlier, the deadline was February 22.
The direction comes after thousands of Noida-bound commuters got struck in massive snarls— especially during the peak hours — at DND Flyway, Delhi-Noida Link Road and other connecting stretches daily.
Besides, the proposed Delhi Metro link — from Janakpuri to Botanical Garden in Noida — is getting delayed due to work on the Kalindi Kunj carriageway.
“The DMRC has asked the authority to help in getting the bridge repair work done faster as it is delaying the proposed Metro link — from Janakpuri to Botanical Garden. The Metro bridge passes adjacent to the Kalindi Kunj carriageway,” said a senior authority officer.
The CEO, along with a team of officials, also inspected the ongoing repair work at the Kalindi Kunj bridge. “The irrigation department should complete the work at the earliest. It will benefit thousands of commuters and work on the Delhi Metro bridge can also be resumed,” said Raman.
“The authority has asked us to complete the Kalindi Kunj bridge repair work at the earliest. But it will be difficult as no work was done for three days due to rains. We understand the need of commuters and aim to open the stretch before February 22,” said RS Yadav, executive engineer, irrigation department.
