A 16-year-old girl was abducted and gang-raped at knife-point allegedly by five people, including three minors, in east Delhi’s Madhu Vihar on Wednesday night.

The police said the three juveniles are known to the girl and one of them is believed to be her friend.

On Thursday, the Madhu Vihar police apprehended two of the three juveniles accused and arrested another 35-year-old man. The remaining two accused, including a minor, are still evading the law.

Teams of the east Delhi police are looking for them.

A senior police officer said the crime was discovered around Wednesday midnight when the girl’s parents approached the Madhu Vihar police and filed a complaint.

The girl’s father, a salesman at a private company, told the police that his daughter was out for some work when she was abducted by the five accused. The accused took her to an isolated place near the railway tracks in Mandawali and took turns to rape her.

All of them fled after sexually assaulting the girl who was threatened with dire consequences if she informed anybody about the crime. Traumatised, the girl returned home around midnight and narrated the incident to her parents. They in turn approached the police.

Since the crime was related to a minor, the SHO of the Madhu Vihar police station informed the ACP of the sub-division and the information was shared with the district DCP and joint CP of the eastern range.

Following instructions from senior officers, a case under the appropriate sections of POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, IPC and Arms Act was registered against the accused. Since three of them were known to the girl, the police apprehended two juveniles who confessed.

At their instance, another accused was arrested.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the girl was loitering near the railway tracks with one of the juveniles who happens to be her friend. Meanwhile, the other two juveniles also joined them and one of them pointed a knife at her and took her to a secluded place. The other two accused were already present there, said the senior officer.
