Twenty-year-old Janki was sleeping in her room when five miscreants, all armed with pistols, broke into her house, a police officer said. Janki woke up after hearing some noise in the house and screamed for help when she saw the five men.

"One of the robbers pointed a gun at her head and threatened to kill her. Janki's parents and brother, who were sleeping in different rooms, also woke up after hearing her scream. They came into her room to check on her and saw the robbers, who then threatened them of killing her if they raised an alarm," said a police officer, adding that Janki's father works in a private company.

The miscreants stayed in the house for almost half an hour and ransacked the entire house. They fled with Rs. 4 lakh in cash and jewellery items worth around Rs. 1 lakh. The  family made a call to the police control room in the morning. A PCR van along with officers from Swaroop Nagar police station arrived.
