The preliminary examination was conducted on May 20 last year for which 5,36,506 candidates applied and 2,71,422 candidates appeared.

Of these, 13,092 candidates were declared qualified for the written examination held last October, and 2,674 candidates were selected for the personality test in March-April this year.

In total, 998 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various central services posts, for which there are 1091 vacancies.
