In a daring attack caught on CCTV, BJP MLA Jitender Singh Shunty was shot at by an unidentified assailant at his house in East Delhi early on Wednesday morning.
The video showed that the man shot at Shunty three times with a country-made pistol and the MLA escaped with just minor bruises he received in a scuffle with him.
The incident happened around 5:40am when Shunty was woken up by a knock on the door. One person requested him to attest a few documents for an "interview in the morning", while another waited in a car.

Shunty then told him he wanted to go to the office of the NGO he runs, which is adjoining his home, to get his office seal. At this an argument ensued, and the man whipped out a pistol and started shooting.
Shunty ran outside screaming for help upon which the assailant got in the waiting car and sped off.
Police said they have searched the CCTV footage from cameras installed at his house for clues. "We have visual details of the two attackers. From the empty shells we found that a country-made pistol was used for the attack," said Sanjay Baniwal, joint commissioner of police ( eastern range).
MLA Shunty alleged that this was the second such attack on him, the first one being in 2007. "This is another attempt by my political rivals to finish me off, "he said.
