Delhi police on Saturday registered a complaint against Aarti Jain — a 55-year-old US-based woman of Indian origin — for allegedly confining a 16-year-old boy at a private hospital for two months. The minor boy had been rescued by the police on Friday.

Jain had been arrested and released in connection to a similar case registered on Thursday at the Mayur Vihar police station by a married couple, who worked for her. The couple had alleged being tortured by Jain. The NRI was released on bail later as the sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) she was charged under were bailable.

However, investigators are now planning to add some stringent non-bailable sections of the IPC in the fresh case.

The boy in his statement before the court on Saturday afternoon alleged that Jain was forcing him to perform “immoral acts”, police said. Sources in the police said the allegations levelled against Jain by the boy would attract Sections of POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, 2012.

“If the investigators do add POCSO sections to the case, Jain will be arrested again and this time she will have to go to jail and approach a court for bail,” a police officer associated with the investigation said.

In the earlier case, police said the married couple had alleged being tortured and burnt with a hot kitchen tong. The woman also apparently set her dogs on them. The couple who hailed from West Bengal’s New Jalpaiguri was rescued by the police.

While the investigation into the first case was on, the Mayur Vihar police was approached by a family that claimed that their minor son was tortured and forcibly kept at a private hospital by Jain to take care of her ailing mother.

Since the crime fell under the territorial jurisdiction of Pandav Nagar police, the matter was transferred there. A raid was conducted at the hospital and the boy ‘rescued’.

The boy alleged that Jain used to thrash him with leather belts, spoons and knife.
