The deceased has been identified as Stephen James and his body was discovered in room number 102 at Krishna Cottage around 3am, police said. The police are waiting for the post mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death, but sources claimed it was a case of natural death.

Alok Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (central), said the matter came to light after a call was made to the police control room by a hotel staff. A police team reached the hotel and learnt that a foul smell was emanating from a room.

“The hotel staff told us that the door was broken down and James’ body was found on the bed. We have sent his body to a government hospital for post mortem examination,” said a senior officer who ruled out the possibility of murder.
